Özer, who is currently in custody, shared his evaluation of the PKK terrorist organization’s decision to lay down arms on his social media account. Özer used the following statements:
“We have shown our hearts for peace. Everyone has a problem, and our problem is peace… Today, the laying down of weapons is a historic step for both Turkey and peace in the region. It is essential for the future of Turkey that necessary democratic steps are taken urgently and the rule of law is indisputably upheld. It is a day for embracing. It is a day for brotherhood.
As a scientist specializing in ‘conflict resolution,’ who has written dozens of books and conducted hundreds of scientific studies on the resolution of the Kurdish Issue, and who has wholeheartedly contributed his ideas and views whenever consulted, I find the images of laying down weapons to be very crucial and important for our country’s future. I thank everyone who has contributed to this important step.”
‘IN THIS PROCESS, OUR COUNTRY, PEACE, EQUALITY, AND DEMOCRACY WILL WIN’
“As a Mayor who has devoted his life to peace and brotherhood, setting out with the motto ‘The City of Peace and Brotherhood, Esenyurt,’ in Esenyurt, in this peace process that I wholeheartedly support; now is the time for all of us to take a step towards the future ‘Democratic Turkey.’ In order to achieve democratic integration, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey must take the initiative and make the necessary legal arrangements without delay. Be sure that there are no losers in peace. Our country, peace, equality, and democracy will be the winners in this process. Peace is good. It’s the best…”
